Reading Suggestions

It’s been more than a little while since I’ve done any reading aside from the Bible; I’m getting that itch again. My favorite are fiction works that tie into the spiritual realm, but I’m open to other suggestions. What’s that book I must read?

  1. If you’d like to have a go at classics I suggest The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco (a bit of mystery and suspense in there) or Les Misérables by Victor Hugo (strong redemptive theme, lovely bittersweet ending) or Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy (destructiveness of sin and self-indulgence). I tend to have very cerebral reading choices 😉

    • Also – the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne (the weight and burden of unconfessed sin), The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky (on religion and family dynamics), The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (on egotism and self-centredness)

      • Thanks 🙂 I’ve never tried any classics aside from college, but I think it may be time. They tend to give you more to talk about with a wider range of people. I’m thinking I may run to Barnes and noble after worship Sunday, pick one out, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy.
